Our First Club Night - continued
After the break it was time for another change of tempo. Geoff Phillips strutted his funky stuff to a beautiful rendition of the old Bobby Darin number Things - though with some decidely dodgy lyrics at the end - almost as dodgy as some of the female harmonies provided by the Merry Wives of Tudhoe (and Alan P - you've got to see the video). Geoff's encore was Take me Home Country Roads which presented no problem for this John Denver look-a-like.
Then it was time for da Blues.
Kenny Potts, Mike Morris, Stu Stalker, Neil Imrie (Bluesessential) and Steve Pardoe on Saxophone did a short set of three numbers featuring some rather nifty guitar solos from Neil and Kenny who were obviously well into the genre, and also from Steve who seemed to surprise himself at his undoubted proficiency in a type of music which was, by his own admission, very new to him.
Finally, the two Alans versions of the old Marv johnson number You got what it takes followed by Cliff Richard's Gee Whizz it's You, guaranteed that the room would be cleared by chucking-out time.
So there you have it.
This evening we had heard music from artistes who, between them, had appeared in, amongst others, the USA, Poland, Holland, Italy, Egypt, South Africa and Turkey.
They had appeared on a number and variety of television shows including the Tom Jones Show
They had recorded singles for Decca, Pye, CBS and others.
We had obtained a stack of excellent memorabilia to add to this web site
Above all, we had renewed some old acquaintances, exchanged stories, met new friends, had a few laughs and listened to some good old Sixties Music - the standard of which was frankly amazing.
Special thanks are due to our wives for their help and support, to Tudhoe Victory Club for providing an excellent venue where the committe, and especially the Steward, went out of their way to be accommodating, to Malcolm for taking the photos and videos, to Geoff for filling in the gaps and to everyone for turning up on the night and getting
off to such a great start.

Thanks Everyone - we cant wait for the next meeting on 13th July 2006
